Server Intellect adds SSL VPN to Dedicated Servers

ORLANDO, Fla. (11/21/2006) - Server Intellect, a leading provider of Windows-based Shared, Virtual Private Server (VPS) and Dedicated Web hosting solutions, announced today it has added the capabilities for Encrypted Virtual Private Networks (SSL VPN) to all of the company's dedicated servers.

To implement the new technology, dedicated servers have been equipped with an additional set of network cards, allowing a private Local Area Network (LAN) to be created between servers at the datacenter. The network is comprised of Cisco 6500, 3500 and 2900 series switches and routers and has a dedicated gigabit network connection to the Internet.

Dedicated server customers can create VPN connections directly to this datacenter LAN.

"The technology allows our dedicated server customers to connect to their servers on a completely private and anonymous network," said Eric Pratt, Managing Director of Server Intellect. "As we have installed a separate network card in every server, it is possible for our customers to disable public access to their servers while still retaining full access for themselves. We've essentially created an additional layer of the Internet solely for our customers' use."

The technology has been made available to all dedicated customers at no additional cost, and access is available upon request. Server Intellect is one of few hosts to offer the technology as a standard feature.

Uses for the new technology include more secure data storage by only allowing server access via the private network, and the creation of a company Intranet, accessible only to employees. SSL VPN can also be especially helpful for server administrations during server setup, maintenance, and the resolution of security issues.
