Log into your VPS or Dedicated Server using Remote Desktop Connection

This article will explain the steps necessary to connect to your virtual private or dedicated server using the Remote Desktop Connection program, built into Windows. This function is not available in shared hosting accounts.

Note: This article uses an account created for the purposes of demonstrating this task. All login information shown should be replaced with the information specific to your account. If you have any questions, please contact our support team.

First, log into https://unity.serverintellect.com/. The Unity customer portal will include important login information, including the correct IP address, username, and password.

With this information handy, open the Remote Desktop Connection program (this program should come fully configured within Windows. If it is not, seek support from Microsoft). Typically, this program is located at Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop Connection. You will see the Remote Desktop Connection dialog, with an input field for an IP address. Click the 'Options' button in the lower right corner, which will expand this window with more options. Input the IP address, username, and password listed in the welcome e-mail:

At this point, it is convenient to check the "Save my password" box, and then click the "Save As..." button to save the file.

Click 'Connect' to log in to your server!
